ELITE Simulation Solutions has sold and installed a 6-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) motion flight simulator at Kingston University in the United Kingdom.
The simulator replicates physical flight sensations across all six axes of movement, giving pilots feedback on acceleration, orientation, and position during normal and non-normal operations. The system is designed to help pilots develop motor skills and situational awareness, including responses to external factors such as turbulence and wind gusts.
Motion cueing accuracy is central to the platform. Cues are tuned to reflect the specific aircraft or helicopter being simulated, matching the timing, intensity, and direction of forces encountered in real flight. During landing, for example, touchdown sensations are tied directly to the simulator's calculated rate of descent.
The installation supports realistic training scenarios while minimizing the risk of negative training through carefully tuned and aircraft-specific motion cueing.
"Universities play a vital role in shaping the next generation of aviation professionals," said Christopher Reville, CCO at ELITE Simulation Solutions. "We are proud to support Kingston University with a motion platform that brings real-world flight physics into the training environment."
