DRF Akademie has acquired an additional Airbus H145 D3 Flight Training Device (FTD) Level 3 from Reiser Simulation and Training (RST), recently qualified by the German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA). The simulator is scheduled to enter service in Frankfurt in early June 2026, operated by Lufthansa Aviation Training.
The device will feature a mixed reality system and represent the H145 D3 variant with avionics software Version 10. It is designed to obtain Multi-Crew Coordination (MCC) approval, adding a new training capability for this class of device. It can also be integrated with DRF Akademie's hoist simulator, hoistAR.
"The new simulator complements the H145/H135 Full Flight Simulator at LAT in Frankfurt and can be integrated with our hoist simulator 'hoistAR', enabling a broader and highly flexible training portfolio," said Florian Rabe, Managing Director of DRF Akademie.
DRF Luftrettung, one of Europe's largest HEMS operators, will also benefit from the device across its 32 bases in Germany.
The simulator is scheduled to enter service in early June this year in Frankfurt and will be operated by Lufthansa Aviation Training.
