Lasa Dynamics has introduced LightPath, a software that generates native light objects within the Prepar3D v5 simulation platform. The software models runway, taxiway, and approach lights using real photometric parameters, including candela intensity, beam spread, color temperature, and elevation profiles.
Unlike texture or sprite-based solutions, LightPath integrates natively into the platform. "Prepar3D v5's graphics engine evaluates them in real time using Direct3D 12, and their behavior responds correctly according to the pilot's position in the scene," explains Ignacio Soriano, CTO of Lasa Dynamics.
The software is aimed at simulator manufacturers building on Prepar3D who need to meet the runway lighting fidelity required for FNPT-II certification under EASA CS-FSTD(A), without a proprietary visual system. It is particularly relevant for ATOs and universities certifying simulators up to FNPT-II level.
"LightPath defines every light using physical parameters, not visual approximations," says Soriano. "Configurations are adapted to ICAO CAT I, II, and III categories, and they are auditable and reproducible, something certification authorities value as objective evidence during the process."
