Northern Rescue Helicopter in New Zealand has signed an agreement for two AW169 FNPT II MCC simulators from entrol, making it the first customer for the newly developed platform. The operator ordered the second unit before completing the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the first.

The simulators are configured for Search and Rescue (SAR) and HEMS training, with a full cockpit setup including integrated avionics, a 4-axis digital Automatic Flight Control System, dual FMS, and a flight model developed around the AW169's characteristics.

Both units are equipped with entrol's enwall LED visual system, which provides the brightness and contrast levels needed for Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations and low-visibility search training.

"This project is about more than just equipment; it's about providing the North Island with a 'mission-ready' environment where crews can master the AW169's capabilities with total precision," said Claudia Calleja, Business Manager at entrol.

Each simulator includes a geo-specific visual database of New Zealand covering key locations including NZAR and NZWR airfields and tactical helipads, along with a vibration system and iPad connectivity.

The first unit is being prepared for shipment from Madrid, with the second currently in production.
