University Adds Two Simulators for Airline Training

The University of Dubuque (UD) in Iowa has selected ALSIM's Airliner simulator. The device is designed to teach both A320 and B737 operational philosophies on a single platform. UD has also selected the Airliner Touch, a Flat Panel Trainer, to complement the Airliner.

The Airliner combines fly-by-wire and conventional flight controls, supporting Crew Resource Management (CRM), APS MCC, and MPL Phase II training. It is built to develop crew coordination, leadership, decision-making, and threat and error management. Its generic airliner design allows trainees to transition into any type rating.

The Airliner Touch lets students build familiarity with aircraft systems and procedures before moving to the Airliner simulator for CRM and multi-crew exercises, freeing up Airliner simulator time for those sessions.

Tony Foster, Ph.D., Head of Academics-Aviation Department at UD, said: "Graduates of our Flight Operations program consistently cite their exposure to advanced jet systems and crew resource management as some of the most valuable aspects of their time at UD, beyond primary flight training. Acquiring these two devices will allow us to expand this type of training while increasing fidelity through more modern equipment."
