TRU Simulation + Training Inc., a Textron Inc. company and an affiliate of Bell Textron Inc., announced that its Veris Virtual Reality Flight Simulator has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) qualification as a Level 7 Flight Training Device (FTD). The simulator is also designed to meet European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) FTD Level 3 standards, with EASA qualification anticipated later this year.
First presented at VERTICON 2024, the Veris combines features of a Full Flight Simulator with immersive virtual reality technology. It provides helicopter and fixed-wing customers with a compact training platform intended to improve efficiency and reduce training costs.
The Bell Training Academy (BTA) will be the first customer to use the Veris for Bell 505 training.
"Being the launch customer for the Veris for the Bell 505 is an honor for the Bell Training Academy," said Chad Sparks, general manager, Bell Training Academy. "We are dedicated to providing the most advanced and comprehensive training solutions, and the Veris will greatly enhance the realism and effectiveness of our programs."
The Veris includes a fully electric six degrees-of-freedom motion base, tactile cockpit panels, TRU’s REALFeel control loading system, and a Varjo VR/MR headset. It supports both VR-based and traditional avionics and procedural training.
