Loft Dynamics has announced a strategic partnership with Scott Urschel, a highly respected figure in the rotorcraft industry, to expand its virtual reality (VR) pilot training solutions across North America.
Urschel, founder and CEO of Pylon Aviation and an FAA-licensed helicopter aerobatic pilot, brings over 35 years of operational and instructional experience. With more than 11,000 flight hours across 35 helicopter models and 100 fixed-wing aircraft, his expertise spans flight testing, certification, and advanced training programs.
The collaboration marks a significant step in Loft Dynamics’ mission to modernise helicopter training. Traditional methods - often infrequent, high-risk, and resource-intensive—have left many pilots underprepared for critical scenarios. Loft Dynamics’ VR simulators offer a safer, more accessible alternative, enabling pilots to train for complex maneuvers in a fully immersive environment without relying on aircraft availability or weather conditions.
The company’s simulators are the first and only VR systems qualified by both the FAA and EASA, validating their use in formal training and checking. Urschel, an early adopter of the technology, has personally used the system to train his own son.
“For the first time, pilots can train for real-world scenarios safely and repeatedly,” said Urschel. “This is the most meaningful advancement in pilot training I’ve seen in decades.”
Loft Dynamics aims to leverage Urschel’s deep industry knowledge and network to accelerate adoption of its VR training solutions, setting a new standard for safety and preparedness in rotorcraft aviation.
