Launching into its fourteenth year, the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C) announced that submissions are officially open. SGS&C is a venue for recognition of excellence in the field of Serious Games development, and the top games, as chosen by the worldwide panel and students in participating schools, will be celebrated at this year’s 2019 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).

With each passing year, the submissions grow more engagingand creative, and once the games are vetted, chosen finalists will exhibit atI/ITSEC, where all attendees are invited to play the games and vote for thecoveted People’s Choice award.

As part of the process, all applicants are required tosubmit an “intent to submit” form by September 13, 2019, to ensure thecommittee is adequately prepared to accept each game’s materials.

Awards will be given on December 5, 2019, at I/ITSEC for thebest games developed in the student, government, and industry categories, aswell as for the best XR (VR/AR/MR) game, Students’ Choice Award, People’sChoice Award, and the Innovation Award that was introduced in 2017.

“I’m particularly excited to see how this year’s submissionsmeet the challenge to meld innovative technologies with creative game designapproaches in order to meet real-world learning needs, as well as bring themost powerful learning experiences,” said Jenn McNamara, VP of BreakAway Gamesand SGS&C director. “With recent advancements in XR, we’ve seen a lot ofemphasis on employing the new hardware and providing novel experiences, and Inow look forward to seeing thoughtful learning games emerge within theseenvironments.”
