Rheinmetall and VRAI announce a partnership in simulation data and artificial intelligence. The cooperation focuses on using data-driven insights to improve armour crew performance and develop datasets intended to support AI-based training tools for modern operational environments.

VRAI states that data generated in simulators can be used to enhance and transform training approaches. The company provides simulation human-performance data products designed to deliver performance insights and support training evaluation.

The partnership reflects Rheinmetall’s and VRAI’s shared interest in applying simulation data solutions to the training and simulation domain. The agreement was signed at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida.

Commenting on the partnership, Bartek Panasewicz, VP Training Systems Land at Rheinmetall, said:

“In my opinion, this partnership demonstrates our ability to be a systems integrator, consistently combining best-in-class technologies to develop turnkey solutions for our customers. The partnership with VRAI has been very beneficial so far, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration. We’re seeing a huge increase in demand for AI enhanced training data assessment.”

Rheinmetall and VRAI will collaborate around VRAI’s HEAT simulation data solution to provide insights into drivers of armour crew performance. Initial work will focus on the XR Driving Simulator, with potential expansion to additional armoured vehicle simulation platforms.

Pat O’Connor, CEO of VRAI, commented:

“I believe that this collaboration with Rheinmetall is a great example of how niche technology companies like VRAI can partner with some of the biggest and best defence and security companies in Europe to deliver outstanding solutions to our customers. We believe that the data generated in simulation can not only drive insight into performance, but is also critical to our customers ability to build AI enabled support tools for their end users.”

Rheinmetall and VRAI are also collaborating within the European Defence Fund FEDERATES project, which is developing a European modelling and simulation solution for distributed synthetic training and decision-making to support readiness objectives across EU member states.
