The Belgian Government has selected the Pilatus PC-7 MKX Training System as the new solution for basic pilot training. A fleet of 18 PC-7 MKX aircraft plus an integrated Ground-Based Training System will replace the existing training aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027.
On November 27, 2025, the government approved a 20-year service contract with Pilatus to provide training services using the PC-7 MKX. The solution includes advanced ground-based training tools, simulators, computer-based platforms, and mission planning and debriefing systems, ensuring continuity from classroom to cockpit.
Pilatus, together with Belgian partners Sabena Engineering and AG Real Estate, will deliver new and upgraded infrastructure at Bevekom/Beauvechain Air Force Base and provide operational support for the next two decades. Belgian industry will contribute to construction, ongoing maintenance, and in-service support. Training is planned to start in 2028, after infrastructure delivery and instructor familiarization.
Belgium will join the Netherlands and France in using the PC-7 MKX Training System. Markus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus, said, "We are proud to welcome Belgian Defense as a new Pilatus customer and the third European air force to select the PC-7 MKX. This milestone reinforces the trust placed in our training systems and highlights our commitment to supporting air forces globally with state-of-the-art solutions."
The PC-7 MKX cockpit features the Garmin G3000 PRIME suite with user-defined displays, combining Pilatus’ training philosophy with Garmin’s open architecture for military pilot instruction.
