3D perception (3DP) announces the upcoming delivery of its Lyra Visual Display System, integrated into a Black Hawk UH-60M Full Flight Simulator (FFS) developed by Virtual Reality Media (VRM).
Built on 3DP’s Lyra Helicopter Dome Simulator Display platform, the simulator replicates a UH-60M configuration and supports training across mission profiles and operational conditions. The device meets International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Level 4 Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) standards, enabling accurate reproduction of flight performance, emergency procedures, and mission tasks.
The simulator includes simulation of all flight phases in manual and automated modes, scenario training covering normal and emergency procedures with day, night, and all-weather operations, and interoperability with other training devices across EUCOM. The motion solution features a six-degree-of-freedom electric motion platform with a three-degree-of-freedom vibration system. The visual system provides a 210-degree horizontal by 63-degree vertical field of view, is NVG-compatible, and complies with ICAO 9625 requirements.
The Lyra platform forms part of 3DP’s modular Northstar Visual Display Solution ecosystem. It incorporates a 12-foot radius motion-rated screen, six projectors, and integrated display processing for color, luminance, and geometry management. The system uses Northstar Aurora auto-aligning instrumented screens to support camera-free calibration and cybersecurity measures. NVG training is supported through IR stimulation and light-tightening features.
“Our Lyra platform is engineered to meet the most demanding rotary-wing simulation standards, ensuring pilots and crews are prepared for any operational scenario,” said Knut Krogstad, CEO of 3D perception. “This collaboration ensures the highest levels of realism and compliance, giving aircrews the confidence to master even the most complex missions.”
3D perception is exhibiting at I/ITSEC 2025, December 1–4, at Booth 1201.
