Diamond Aircraft has delivered a fully retrofitted DA62 MPP surveillance aircraft to QinetiQ, with the Dutch Military Police as the end user, a project that introduces expanded training requirements for mission crews.

The upgrade, completed under EASA Part‑145 approval, modernises one of QinetiQ’s existing DA62 MPPs and demonstrates how surveillance fleets are evolving to meet increasingly complex mission profiles.

The aircraft now features an enhanced mission suite, including a SHOTOVER M2 imaging system, SHOTOVER ARS augmented‑reality mapping, Rohde & Schwarz multiband radio, TETRA radios, an AEM advanced audio router, and a Line‑of‑Sight downlink for real-time data transmission.

Each system adds new layers of operational complexity, requiring updated training for pilots, sensor operators and mission coordinators, as well as refreshed technical training for maintenance teams.

Delivered as a fully certified turnkey solution, the project underscores Diamond Aircraft’s ability to upgrade and adapt in‑service platforms to new operational demands. For training organisations, the retrofit highlights the growing need for scenario‑based instruction, mission‑systems familiarisation, and crew coordination training aligned with modern ISR equipment.

According to Diamond Aircraft, the upgraded DA62 MPP reinforces the platform’s status as a capable, flexible surveillance asset for government and defence operators.
