Adaptive Immersion Technologies is introducing XReach, a digital training environment designed to strengthen aircraft maintenance readiness by giving technicians realistic and repeatable practice in a controlled setting. The system, a finalist in the Global Strike XR capabilities challenge, will be demonstrated at I/ITSEC in Orlando from December 1–4.
XReach is developed to address the gap between classroom instruction and the pressures of maintaining operational aircraft. The platform provides guided procedures, fault-isolation tasks, and scenario-based maintenance problems to help technicians build confidence and fluency before working on a live system.
“Aircraft maintainers are the backbone of mission readiness, but they often face limited access to equipment and inconsistent opportunities to build practical experience,” said Phillip Mangos, CEO and chief scientist at Adaptive Immersion Technologies. “XReach gives them a structured, reliable place to sharpen their skills. It supports the repetition, precision and problem-solving that real-world maintenance demands.”
The system integrates modeling, task flows, embedded diagnostics, and troubleshooting scenarios that reflect modern aircraft complexity. XReach supports both new maintainers and experienced technicians who need refreshers, cross-platform exposure, or familiarity with updated configurations and procedures.
XReach provides virtual interactions that mirror aircraft systems and tasks, instructor reach-back capabilities, scenario-driven exercises, modular content that scales from basic to advanced, and automated performance feedback.
Developed with input from maintainers and instructors across multiple aviation platforms, XReach strengthens continuity between academic learning and hands-on responsibilities. Its adaptability supports organizations managing increased system complexity.
“The demands on aviation maintenance needs continue to grow, and tools that keep pace with that reality are critically necessary,” Mangos said. “XReach helps maintainers build the technical awareness, repetition and confidence they need long before they encounter the pressures of working hands-on with aircraft.”
