SkyAlyne has acquired the ASR-NG (Area Surveillance Radar – Next Generation) from HENSOLDT to support air traffic control operations at 15 Wing Moose Jaw under the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) programme.

The ASR-NG is the latest version of ATC radars already in use at six RCAF locations. The FAcT programme will deliver ab initio training to RCAF pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators, using both simulators and aircraft.

The radar features signal processing technology for wide-area air surveillance and suppression of false signals, including returns from wind turbines. It provides coverage within a radius of more than 200 kilometres and up to 50,000 feet altitude. The integrated MSSR 2000 I secondary radar enables automatic aircraft identification via transponder and meets the Mode S air traffic control standard.

The system is expected to be installed and operational by end of 2027.
