On November 18, 2025, the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) selected Mass Virtual as the recipient of the 2025 Materiel Readiness Award for a Contribution by a Small Business Organization, recognizing its support of Army Aviation readiness through development and use of immersive training systems.

The award recognizes small businesses contributing to logistics support and materiel readiness for Army Aviation. Mass Virtual received the award for developing and deploying the Virtual Aerial Systems Training (VAST) platform in support of the 204th Military Intelligence Battalion (Aerial Reconnaissance), the Army’s only jet Aircrew Training Program (ATP).

The VAST platform has delivered more than 6,250 hours of instruction and supported an operational tempo of approximately 450 flight hours per month across Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft operations. The system is used as part of non-rated crewmember deployment preparation and Day Zero pilot training, supporting training activities prior to delivery of mission-ready aircraft.

By shifting elements of instruction to an extended reality environment, the VAST platform has supported aircraft availability, maintenance scheduling efficiencies, and training qualification timelines for Army jet ISR operations.

“Mass Virtual’s collaboration with the 204th MI Battalion has set the standard for how industry can support Army modernization,” said Angel R. Acevedo, Project Support Manager within Project Director, Sensor-Aerial Intelligence (PD SAI). “The VAST platform not only enhances readiness today but also builds a foundation for the Army’s future ISR training enterprise.”

As the Army transitions toward the jet-powered High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES), the VAST platform continues supporting ongoing ISR training requirements.
