CAE Defense & Security has been selected by Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) to provide training systems for the Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) program with the U.S. Air Force.

As part of the team developing the next-generation SAOC aircraft, CAE will create training systems for future aircrews and maintainers. The company has begun the Training Systems Requirement Analysis and is investing in capabilities to ensure the transition from the current E-4B to the E-4C platform aligns with program milestones.

In 2024, SNC received the contract to modernize and replace the E-4B “Nightwatch” fleet. This aircraft serves as an airborne command center, ensuring continuous command, control, and communication capabilities for national leadership during emergencies.

“With the strength of our industry team, we’re building a platform and a training ecosystem designed for mission success,” said Jon Piatt, EVP of SNC’s IAS business area. “Our collaboration with CAE reflects our shared commitment to delivering a tailored and innovative solution that advances readiness for the U.S. Air Force and Joint Staff mission.”

The SNC-led team includes Collins Aerospace, GE Aerospace, Greenpoint Technologies Inc., Lockheed Martin Skunk Works®, NIAR, Rolls-Royce, and CAE. Together, they are working to replace the current fleet with updated capabilities designed to meet U.S. national security requirements.
