What if there was a way doctors could make communication between their patients easier? What if doctors and patients could monitor long-term conditions over an app?

Inhealthcare has recently announced programming technology that will change the game for doctor-patient communication. A new technology will help doctors launch their own health apps using an easy-to-build toolkit that simplifies the process of developing an app, making it easier for to develop and deploy services for the NHS.

This innovation is owned by Peter Wilkinson, a Yorkshire entrepreneur responsible for companies such as Planet Online, Sports Internet and Freeserve. During an interview Mr. Wilkinson said, “If the Government is serious about delivering a modern healthcare system it should embrace this opportunity and deploy the system throughout the NHS and unleash rapid improvements in patient wellbeing and staff productivity.”

Implementing this kind of technology will allow patients to take control and become more aware over their health. Some of the features that the toolkit offers include communication channels, mobile apps, online portals, and automated calls. Not only is it easy for patients and doctors to use but data is transferred securely to hospitals.

The idea behind this toolkit was to incite doctors, clinicians, and healthcare providers to collaborate with IT professionals in the medical field to pursue quick and cost-efficient innovations that will benefit patients in the long-run. A few of these positive externalities include reduced spending, tracking long term conditions, patient well-being, instant communication, and staff productivity.

The annual flu vaccination program, developed by clinicians in the north east of england, is an example of the Inhealthcare's toolkit. The digital platform is designed to track patients at risk. Patients will be notified, contacted, and booked into a flu clinic. Lastly, patients are tracked to ensure their vaccinations was successfully provided. This software was completed within a day and cost only a fraction of what developing this technology usually costs.
