On September 4, 2025, five new dredging simulators were inaugurated at the Shipping and Transport College (STC) in Rotterdam. Supported by the O&O Fund Waterbouw and maritime education institutes, the investment marked a significant step in preparing future dredging professionals.

The new facilities include three fixed simulators and one mobile simulator at STC, plus an additional fixed simulator at Nova College in IJmuiden/Beverwijk. The mobile unit is accessible to all maritime education institutes in the Netherlands, broadening access to practical training.

Developed by Dutch Dredging Simulators (DDS)—a collaboration of Controllab, DE Klop B.V., and MSA-Service—the simulators recreate realistic dredging scenarios. Students gain hands-on practice in a safe, sustainable setting.
