Miami University has secured a $1.5 million Workforce Safety Innovation Center (WSIC) grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to develop the Safety Immersion and Gamified Hazard Training (SIGHT) initiative.

This two-year program, led by the Farmer School of Business and the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce and Innovation Hub in Hamilton, aims to enhance safety training for Ohio’s manufacturing workforce. The initiative combines artificial intelligence with virtual and augmented reality to create personalized, gamified training modules tailored to each worker’s skill level and environment. These immersive platforms will be accessible continuously and designed to improve hazard recognition, response skills, and job readiness.

Fadel Megahed, a professor involved in the project, emphasized that the initiative marks a significant step for both Miami University and the advancement of industrial safety and competitiveness in Ohio.
