Police Department Debuts New Training Simulator

The Jeffersonville Police Department has introduced a new virtual training tool called the 180 simulator, letting officers practice hundreds of real-world scenarios. Unlike the department's previous simulator, this version allows multiple officers to train together and includes more than 1,000 scenarios.

The tool is meant to reduce risk and build confidence. It uses a gun modeled after officers' real firearms for marksmanship and decision-making practice. Five officers are currently trained to operate it, and JPD's SWAT team has already used the system. Wider access is expected this fall.
