Simulator Expands Training for Alternative Fuels

A Kongsberg K-Sim Engine simulator has been introduced to strengthen maritime training for LNG and alternative fuel vessels. The simulator provides IGF Code training, helping seafarers develop skills in fuel management, emission reduction, and emergency response. Certified by DNV and aligned with IMO STCW standards, it delivers realistic and compliant scenarios.

The new simulator complements existing training suites, offering scenario-based exercises for dual-fuel and alternative propulsion systems. It enables crews to gain practical experience with operational challenges associated with low- and zero-carbon fuels, supporting safer and more efficient vessel operations.

The addition reflects ongoing efforts in the maritime sector to prepare personnel for the evolving demands of alternative fuel technologies.
