Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will receive $9 million in federal funding to build a Healthcare Simulation Building aimed at addressing maternal and infant health workforce shortages and regional health disparities.
The gift was made by Senator John Boozman as part of Fiscal Year 2026 funding bills that aim to advance multiple healthcare training and clinical care projects across Arkansas. The simulation facility is among several maternal health-focused investments designed to improve health outcomes in the state.
Additional healthcare education funding includes $15 million for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith's Center for Mother and Infant Healthcare to support construction and equipment needs, and $7.7 million for a Health Science Center at Arkansas State University-Newport focusing on maternal and mental health outcomes.
The facility will provide hands-on training environments for medical students and practitioners serving communities experiencing workforce gaps and health outcome disparities.
