Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) is set to introduce a new program that combines renewable energy education with immersive virtual and augmented reality tools. Supported by a $41,000 grant from the West Penn Energy Fund, the 12-month initiative will serve residents in Cameron, Elk, McKean, and Potter counties.
The program will engage both students and adults through monthly sessions held in community spaces, with additional outreach via schools and local partners. Using zSpace’s VR/AR technology, participants will explore renewable energy concepts and technical skills training through interactive, simulation-based lessons.
NPRC plans to hire a part-time educator to lead sessions and coordinate with community organizations. College leaders view the initiative as a way to equip residents with workforce skills aligned with growing demand in the clean energy sector.
