The START Centre at Lethbridge Polytechnic has developed a series of virtual reality (VR) training scenarios for Calgary-based TALEO Project Services. Designed for project management certification programs, the interactive VR exercises aim to make learning more engaging for participants aged 16 to 25.
The collaboration began in 2022, with the START team applying spatial technologies to create practical, immersive learning experiences. TALEO sought the VR approach to address the challenge of teaching a traditionally “boring” but important subject.
Three VR scenarios were developed and are now integrated into TALEO’s training programs, providing learners with safe, repeatable environments to practice and understand project management concepts. The initiative was supported by Alberta Innovates and highlights ongoing industry-academic partnerships exploring emerging training technologies. START plans to expand collaborations with other companies interested in VR and AR-based learning solutions.
