Maine Medical Center Opens Team Training Facility

Maine Medical Center (MMC) opened The Hannaford Team Training Facility for Safe Patient Care – at its Bramhall Campus in Portland. The facility with both an adult and pediatric patient simulator offers medical teams including residents, nurses and therapists a place to practice actual emergency situations – such as code blues, strokes and DARTs (Difficult Airway Response Team). It also has a surgical skills lab with a da Vinci robotic simulator, a Heartworks TEE and TTE simulator and a Simbionix Bronchoscopy and Colonoscopy trainer where surgeons can prepare to use of robotics technologies.

Hannaford Charitable Foundation donated $250,000 for the new 1,600 square-foot training facility that is a satellite location to the 18,000 square-foot Hannaford Center for Safety, Innovation and Simulation located at MMC’s Brighton Campus, and the children’s hospital philanthropy raised $44,000 to purchase the simulated child patient.
