3D Systems has released new patient-specific modules, updates and configurations to its products.

Gastric Emergency Bleeding Modules

Clipping for gastric bleeding will soon be available in 3D Systems’ Advanced Gastric Emergency Bleeding Module for the GI Mentor.

These modules provide a learning opportunity to practice themanagement of GI bleeding situations in a controlled environment. The modulesare comprised of virtual patients exhibiting emergency hemorrhaging in theupper GI tract.

These challenging cases require immediate diagnosis andtreatment, using a variety of endoscopic tools. Encountering these stressfulsituations in a calm and controlled environment helps in preparing the traineefor actual occurrences of bleeding situations.

PELVIC Mentor Cart Configuration

The PELVIC Mentor is now available in a cart configurationfor ease-of-use and transport. PELVIC Mentor is an integrated hybrid systemthat combines a physical mannequin with a computerized 3D virtual system.

It utilizes sensors that are placed on the trainee’s finger.These sensors, combined with the mannequin and the 3D picture, enable thetrainee to obtain a real-time indication of the finger palpation, abdominalpress and cervix manipulation during anatomical recognition phase, or whileperforming a pelvic exam. The system tracks the trainee’s movements andprovides a full performance report on the progress and level of the trainee.

TAVI Basic-to-Advanced Updates

Learners using the ANGIO Mentor's updated TAVI module cannow handle multiple in-procedure complications by resheathing andrepositioning.

This module provides practice of transcatheter aortic valveimplantation (TAVI) for treatment of aortic stenosis and aortic valveinsufficiency.

Some practiced steps include introducing a pigtail into theaortic root, finding the optimal projection for annular plane visualization,and measuring pre- and post-procedure pressure gradients.

Some of the learning objectives include how to practice TAVIprocedural steps, manage and plan an intervention in varied patient anatomiesand pathologies, and correctly size the aortic valve bioprosthesis.
