Held annually, IT²EC is the international forum for military, civil sector, industry and academic representatives from around the globe to share and promote simulation, training and education knowledge. IT²EC 2020 will take place 28-30 April 2020 at ExCeL, London.

Previously known as ITEC, the re-brand into IT²EC for 2020 reflects the show’s contemporary focus on technology, with the conference now titled the “International Training Technology Exhibition and Conference”. IT²EC 2020 will reflect this shift onto technology with an overarching topical conference theme of “the Digital Twin Age”.

The three-day conference will be organised into three concurrent streams: “Technologies and Architectures”, which will include presentations on technical developments allowing the advancement of collaborative and innovative processes; “Human Factors and Performance in a Digital Twin Age”, which will cover issues including human modelling and avatars, the Digital Twin user experience and human-data and human-sensor interactions; and the final theme “Emerging Solutions: Propelling Today’s Advances into the Digital Twin Age”, to include papers on advances in large-scale collaboration and training, cyber and physical security training and education, and simulation for denied or contested environments.

Taking on the position of committee chair for 2020 is Rusmat Ahmed of Bohemia Interactive Simulations. Ahmed has been SVP Sales, EMEA for Bohemia Interactive Simulations since 2014, leading all sales and business development activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has a wealth of business experience in defence, particularly around projects for armies and air forces, and in both civil and military training and simulation.

Ahmed said, “Content submissions so far point to an exceptionally interesting and useful conference for training and simulation professionals. With the explosion of AI (artificial intelligence) and Big Data in the everyday world around us, Digital Twins (one of this year's themes) are already finding their way into important areas of defence training and simulation.

“Welcoming new committee members adds further to the breadth and wealth of experience of the Committee, helping to keep the conference fresh and topical.”

New faces on the IT²EC committee for 2020 include: Steve Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer of the European Training and Simulation Association (ETSA); Sanjay Khetia, Director of Strategic Alliances and Director, UK for PLEXSYS Interface Products; David Elsey, Business Development Manager – Training Services, and Ian Crews, Training Solutions Lead Engineer, both from BAE Systems. They join a well-established group of industry experts from every part of the military training technology value chain.
