The 28th group of 17 students began their professional pilot studies at the airBaltic Pilot Academy, the training division of the Latvian national airline. The new class includes students from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, France, and Germany, all pursuing a commercial pilot license through the full-time airline transport pilot program.
Currently, 158 active students are enrolled at the academy from across Europe, with more than 10% being female. Since its establishment, 163 graduates have joined airBaltic as pilots, with several advancing to instructor and Captain positions. Recently, four graduates became Captains, marking a milestone for the academy and illustrating its career progression path from cadet to Captain.
Students are required to fund ATPL theory studies and 45 flight hours at a cost of EUR 25,000. After successfully passing the airline’s pilot assessment and joining as employees, they receive financing for the remainder of their training.
airBaltic’s expanded training capabilities now include a second Airbus A220 full flight simulator, enhancing pilot qualification and development. The airline currently connects the Baltic States to 80 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
