Women in Aviation International (WAI) held the 11th Annual Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD) on September 20, 2025, attracting more than 42,000 youth participants worldwide. The program included 200 events, with 136 in the U.S. and U.S. Territories and 64 international events across 34 countries.

GIAD is part of WAI’s youth program designed to introduce girls to careers in aviation and aerospace. Events took place at airports, museums, FBOs, and hangars, providing participants opportunities to meet female role models, attend career panels, and explore airplanes and airports. Activities included sectional chart treasure hunts, simulator flights, and learning about aircraft engines, avionics, weather systems, and space.

“Our Girls in Aviation Day events continue to inspire and spark curiosity among young participants as they discover the world of aviation,” said WAI CEO Lynda Coffman. “We sincerely thank our chapter members, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for their dedication and generosity that made this international event possible. Together, we are not only nurturing dreams but also creating a more inclusive and stronger future for aviation.”

Since its launch in 2015, GIAD has grown from 32 events with 3,200 participants to more than 180,000 youth reached over 11 years. The 2025 program was supported by WAI Strategic Partners Amazon and United, Emanuel Bachmann Foundation, ISTAT Foundation, Sporty’s Pilot Shop, and JCL Aviation Services.
