Joby Aviation announced it has completed piloted transition flights, successfully shifting from vertical takeoff to wingborne flight and back. This marks a key milestone in the company’s electric air taxi test program and paves the way for upcoming FAA flight testing and operations in Dubai.

The first flight, conducted by Chief Test Pilot James “Buddy” Denham on April 22, took place at Joby’s facility in Marina, California. The aircraft, capable of vertical takeoff and high-speed cruise, performed as expected. Multiple piloted transitions have since been completed with three different pilots.

The achievement follows extensive testing, including more than 40,000 miles of flight, and confirms Joby’s confidence in its design. The aircraft is intended to carry a pilot and four passengers at up to 200 mph with zero emissions.
