KLM has commissioned the first Airbus A350 simulator in the Netherlands, ahead of the aircraft joining its fleet at the end of 2026. The simulator provides pilots with training on A350 systems and procedures in a realistic environment.

The device was built by CAE in Montreal, where it underwent extensive cockpit and system testing similar to processes for actual aircraft. After shipping to Europe in parts, installation at Schiphol-East required careful handling: the simulator was hoisted over a fence due to its size. It is now fully operational, with the first group of pilots set to begin training shortly.

The A350 is part of KLM’s ongoing fleet modernization. The aircraft generates up to 40% less noise and consumes approximately 25% less fuel than older models. Its use of composites and titanium enables longer ranges with reduced emissions.
