United Airlines has opened a new flight attendant training center in Chantilly, Virginia, marking its first such facility in the DC area. The 20,000-square-foot space will provide monthly training to up to 650 flight attendants serving Dulles International, Reagan National, and Baltimore-Washington International airports.
Construction on the $16 million facility began last fall. It includes equipment rooms for emergency response drills, CPR training, and simulations using models of United’s six aircraft types. Four classrooms host nine-and-a-half-hour refresher sessions required every 18 months.
While new recruits will still travel to Houston for initial qualifications, the Chantilly center eliminates the need to go to Chicago for recurrent training.
This development is part of United’s broader regional growth. With nearly 280 daily flights from Dulles and a new 435,000-square-foot concourse planned for 2026, United is expanding its local footprint and workforce—especially its flight attendant base.
