Serco has won a contract extension to deliver maritime warfare training at HMAS Watson in Sydney and HMAS Stirling in Western Australia.

The contract is valued at more than £80 million (AUD$160 million) if all extensions are exercised. The initial term runs five years with five one-year extension options.

Serco has provided training services to the Royal Australian Navy since 2003. The expanded contract covers navigation and warfare simulations, scenario planning, and software-enabled training solutions at the two naval warfare training establishments.

The company will deliver training through a teaming arrangement with CAE, Sayres Australia, and JMC, an Australian veteran-owned SME. CAE provides synthetic warfare simulation capabilities, Sayres Australia contributes training delivery systems, and JMC supplies technology solutions.

"This contract win reflects the strength of Serco's expertise in mission-critical defence services and our role as a trusted partner to the Royal Australian Navy," said Anthony Kirby, Serco Group Chief Executive Officer.

The training programme is designed to prepare Royal Australian Navy officers and sailors for operational deployments through simulation-based instruction covering contemporary maritime warfare scenarios.
