The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) hosted the third International School on Simulation of Nuclear Reactor Systems (SINUS-3) from 5 May to 2 July 2025. The programme focused on light-water small modular reactors (LW-SMRs) and integrated remote lectures, hands-on training, and collaborative projects.

Forty trainees from 19 countries were selected from over 300 applicants, underscoring international interest in the initiative. An in-person workshop, held 30 June to 2 July at the University of Cambridge, was organised in partnership with the Cambridge Nuclear Energy Centre.

The event was co-organised by North Carolina State University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s RSICC, and the NEA’s Working Party on Scientific Issues and Uncertainty Analysis of Reactor Systems (WPRS), with support from France’s CEA and the UK’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The next SINUS is planned for mid-2026.
