The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has allocated N110 billion to improve medical education and deploy simulation technology in Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions. The initiative, beginning in 2025, aims to address the country’s shortage of healthcare professionals by strengthening training programs and curbing the outflow of talent abroad.
TETFund Board Chairman Aminu Bello Masari announced the investment during the commissioning of eight major projects at the Federal University of Technology, Babura (FUTB), in Jigawa State. He stated that the initiative is part of the government’s Renewed Hope agenda and will be implemented over five years.
Masari added that TETFund has already disbursed N11.36 billion to FUTB since its establishment in 2021, with over 75% of the funds utilized. The newly completed campus projects cost N5.8 billion and aim to position the institution as a hub for innovation and research.
