A newborn manikin known as SimBaby is helping staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, prepare for medical emergencies.

Funded by the hospital’s charity for £60,000, the simulator can replicate breathing difficulties and cardiac arrest, offering realistic training for maternity, neonatal, and paediatric teams. Previously focused on adult care, the hospital’s simulation program is expanding to support safer treatment for infants.

Hospital leaders say the SimBaby will enable hands-on education that closely reflects real-life scenarios, helping staff refine critical skills and work more effectively in high-pressure situations to improve outcomes for the hospital’s youngest and most vulnerable patients.
