A mobile simulation lab is traveling across Iowa, delivering hands-on emergency training to healthcare professionals. Known as Simulation in Motion–Iowa (SIM-IA), the high-tech truck recently stopped in Des Moines as part of its statewide initiative. The program has now trained health care providers and first responders in all 99 Iowa counties, reaching over 14,000 participants.

One of three mobile units operated by the University of Iowa College of Nursing, the truck features lifelike simulators, task trainers, a video debrief system, and a fully equipped ambulance treatment area. These tools allow participants to practice critical, rarely performed procedures in realistic scenarios, helping prepare them for high-risk, low-frequency emergencies.

The trucks have logged nearly 100,000 miles statewide.
