Standing NATO Maritime Group One arrived in Stockholm on April 29th for a port visit to resupply and work together with close NATO partner Sweden.

“NATO gains from Sweden’s insights and operational expertise, and I appreciate the high-level training we regularly conduct with the Swedish Navy,” Commander SNMG1 Commodore A. van de Sande said.

Prior to the port visit, SNMG1 conducted a close-air-support exercise with a Swedish Navy submarine in the Baltic Sea, training in anti-submarine warfare, including fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter operations, and defensive procedures entering and leaving port.

SNMG1 has been stationed in the Baltic to provide assurance to Allies. While much of the group - including the flagship, HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën - is in Stockholm, current SNMG1 ship FS Latouche-Tréville will stay at sea for operations.

After leaving Stockholm SNMG1 will conduct another at-sea exercise with a Swedish Patrol Vessel.
