The U.S. Army announced the launch of Project ARIA (Army Rapid Implementation of Artificial Intelligence), an initiative applying artificial intelligence to Army operations.
The program followed an AI tabletop exercise hosted by Secretary of the Army Daniel P. Driscoll in September 2025, where Army leaders and AI experts examined operational challenges.
Project ARIA initially focuses on three areas: automating the Army’s planning, programming, budgeting and execution process; developing a “model armory” providing AI capabilities across operational environments; and applying AI to supply chain management at Anniston Army Depot to predict maintenance needs and improve parts availability.
The initiative is intended to reduce administrative workload so soldiers can focus on training, readiness and mission execution.
“Through Project ARIA, we are building the Army of tomorrow, today,” said Deputy Under Secretary of the Army David R. Fitzgerald. “By working with the nation’s top minds in artificial intelligence, we are rapidly developing and deploying smart tools that empower our Soldiers, streamline our operations, and ensure our readiness for any challenge.”
