Aechelon Technology, Inc. was selected to deliver the baseline Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Common Database (CDB) for the U.S. Air Force’s Simulator Common Architecture Requirements and Standards (SCARS) program.

The SCARS initiative establishes a unified, open-architecture simulation environment across the U.S. Air Force, enabling enhanced interoperability, faster integration, and cost efficiency in training and operational readiness. Aechelon’s database baseline will serve as the authoritative geospatial foundation, ensuring consistency across a wide range of training systems.

Aechelon’s selection for SCARS aligns with its broader technology roadmap, which includes Project Orbion—an AI-enabled digital twin of the Earth that integrates real-time satellite imagery, radar intelligence, photogrammetry, and advanced visualization technologies into a continuously refreshed, physics-accurate 3D environment.

Together, SCARS and Project Orbion reflect the company’s mission to deliver advanced geospatial and database solutions supporting U.S. and allied defense training environments. Built on Aechelon’s Skybeam platform, Project Orbion supports defense customers in mission rehearsal, situational awareness, disaster response, emergency management, and autonomous AI system training.
