Hungary has received a Diamond Aircraft DA62 MPP to strengthen its aerial reconnaissance and geospatial intelligence capabilities. The delivery ceremony took place at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, with high-ranking defense officials in attendance. The aircraft is equipped with advanced sensors and imaging technology from Vexcel and Riegl, enabling precise 3D mapping, digital terrain modeling, and aerial imaging.

This marks Hungary’s first new military cartography platform since 1977. The aircraft is expected to support simulation, command, and control operations across the defense sector. Officials described it as a strategic tool for both national security and operational efficiency.

The DA62 MPP was developed in partnership with Ohio University and is tailored for missions such as surveillance, border patrol, and law enforcement. Its carbon-fiber structure and twin-engine design contribute to its durability and cost efficiency. The ceremony concluded with a blessing from military chaplains, emphasizing the human commitment behind this modernization effort.
