A partnership of leaders in healthcare workforce services and nonprofit higher education in California says it is working to answer the healthcare industry's call for an increased supply of well-prepared clinical professionals. AMN Healthcare, a provider of healthcare workforce solutions and staffing services, and National University are working together to provide a sophisticated learning environment in the healthcare services sector for continuing education, client-customized training programs, learning management and professional practice management.
The educational offerings will be provided through AMN Healthcare’s Center for the Advancement of Healthcare Professionals that offers customizable education and training programs for healthcare providers to build their workforces. The partnership will give novice and early-career clinicians a career development ladder to become in-demand professionals – and it will customize learning programs for hospitals, health systems, or other healthcare enterprises such as home-health agencies and clinics.
Susan Salka, President and CEO of AMN Healthcare says the “partnership brings together a unique combination of healthcare workforce and education expertise that clients can employ to train existing staff or prepare new graduates to meet the rapidly growing demand for patient care."
The company says “the nation's healthcare industry is suffering from shortages of many types of healthcare professionals, and this challenge is expected to worsen as demand increases and supply becomes even more constrained over the next decade. Although enrollments are rising in many programs, particularly for nurses, transition-to-practice readiness has become increasingly essential. In this increasingly complex healthcare environment, many healthcare providers are identifying a greater need for specialty training to ensure that recent graduates as well as current employees are fully prepared to meet immediate workplace needs.”
