17 apprentices from Resource Group's Aviation Technical Training division (LRTT Ltd.) have completed the 8-month residential part of their EASA Part-66 Category A Apprenticeship programme at the company's training academy at Cotswold Airport.
The award for Academic Aircraft Apprentice, given to the student achieving the highest modular results, was presented to James McCarthy from AirTanker Services. The award for Exemplar Aircraft Apprentice Award, voted for by the Apprentices and Instructors, was presented to Craig Donald from NHV Helicopters; and the award for Hand Skills Aircraft Apprentice, given to the highest achieving Apprentice in the workshop was awarded to Joseph Hale from Cobham Aviation Services.
The Apprenticeship programme covers 24 months and splits into two clearly defined phases; the students have completed the first phase and now embark on a 16-month work placement completed on site with their respective employers.
Andrew Gavan, Head of Apprenticeship Centre commented: "We are extremely proud of our current students and what they have achieved during their time with us. They leave us with the best grounding possible to continue their development and their respective placements within their employers EASA Part 145 maintenance organisations. We anticipate an exponential development in both competence and confidence during this next phase.
Our government funded apprenticeship programme focuses specifically on the needs of the industry, highlighted by our EASA/CAA approval. It is imperative to us that quality and excellence of delivery is at the heart of our programme as this enables us to support the delivery of skilled and productive aircraft mechanics to the industry while meeting the needs of our clients."
Resource Group are pleased to announce that they will be supporting the Government led New Apprenticeship Standard, and as of September 2017 will begin delivering the Aircraft Maintenance Fitter/Technician (fixed and rotary wing) Apprenticeship standard.
