Southern Arkansas University Opens Nursing Simulation Center

Southern Arkansas University opened its new Blue and You Health Sciences Simulation Center that is named in honor of the $149,128 grant from Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue & You Foundation that funded much of the center’s equipment.

The SAU Nursing Simulation Lab has four studios that are all equipped for viewing and recording sessions, along with a debriefing area and an inventory of hospital beds, crash carts, CPR trainers, an AED trainer and a mobile medication center. The facility offers Medical-Surgical, Labor and Delivery, ER and ICU simulation environments using high-fidelity simulators and will soon offer regional healthcare groups individual or group simulation experiences, hands-on workshops, professional development courses, competency training and employee certifications and re-certifications. Many of these opportunities are new to the southern half of the state and in the Ark-La-Tex region.
