The 375th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron (AES) at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois has a new Cargo Compartment Trainer (CCT) that gives AE crew members a realistic simulated clinical experience to develop their clinical abilities and their comfort level with operational missions in an environment that mimics an aircraft they use for those missions.
The new CCT replicates the inside of a KC-135, one of four main aircraft the 375th AES uses for patient transport, and includes wooden floor with tracks to secure the stanchion litter system, audio visual equipment to record and review training scenarios.
Aeromedical crews are required to participate in training on the CCT twice every six months for their real-world missions live training missions they perform. The CCT will help augment and enhance these missions.
